WPAOG Report of Gifts 2018
“My semester abroadhas beennothing short of life-changing. Coming froma rural background inmid-Michigan, going toWest Point, andmov- ing toNewYork todo sowas abig change forme, but I at least hada lot in common culturallywith the people aroundme. Studying inRabat, at first, everything seemed sodifferent. Livinghere has certainly beenanadjust- ment, but the longer I stay, themore I realize that beyond the superficial, we havemuchmore in common thanwe have indifference. The people around you, the ones youpass in the street eachmorning, they stopbeing faces and they start being friends, just like theywouldback home. Studying abroadhas helpedme learna lot about Arabic andMoroccan culture, but it has also taughtme somuchmore about humanity andhas openedmy eyes to theworld I live inoutside theUnited States. I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity I’ve beengivenbyWest Point, theDepartment of Foreign Languages, and last but certainly not least, AOG.” —Cadet BryceMeylan ’20 Tradition WestPointAOG.org 9
